Our Exam Board, Qualifications and Affiliations

Here are a few highlights of MTB music exams:

  • Stress Free: Music Teachers’ Board believe that the whole process of learning to play a musical instrument, including taking grade exams, should be a positive and enjoyable one. Hence, all Music Teachers’ Board exams are recorded by teachers in the lesson removing the stress many candidates experience when having to perform to a visiting examiner in an unfamiliar environment.

  • Wide Timeline: The wait to take an exam as well as the wait to accommodate exam periods and examiner visits can demotivate pupils as it is difficult to progress during this period and they can grow bored of playing the same music for months. With Music Teachers’ Board, grades can be taken at any time without having to apply months in advance or accommodate exam periods and visiting examiner dates, helping teachers to optimise a pupil’s rate of progress. MTB exams can be taken as soon as you are ready - just video record your playing and submit it (either via the MTB Mobile App or via the MTB India Website) and get it marked.

  • Specialist Examiners: Uniquely, Music Teachers’ Board exams are only marked by instrument specialists. As in, only a specialist piano teacher/player will mark a piano exam, a keyboard specialist a keyboard exam, etc. Frequently, traditional methods require the examiners to assess and mark performances on instruments that they personally cannot teach or play.

  • Record Exam at Convenience: With MTB Music Exams, there is no need to travel to examination centres. You decide where to take the exam.

  • Syllabus Flexibility: MTB's broad range of repertoire options from western classical to popular styles to Indian music help teachers and pupils select music they will enjoy.

  • Interactive Music Theory: Also, MTB's Interactive Digital Music Theory is an exciting evolution of the era, allowing learners to engage with music theory in an interactive way, listening to music, playing on an interactive pop-up keyboard and placing notes on staves in the same way that composers use modern notation software.

  • Economical Pricing: Additionally, MTB's books, courses and exams are significantly cheaper (~30% - 40%) than traditional exams.
